How eGive works

Once your Church signs up for eGive, immediately begin promoting eGive in the newsletter, on the web site, by email, and by direct mail during Stewardship campaigns. There are two ways the donor can sign up:

  1. Sign up electronically through our Online Giving Form.
  2. Complete the printed version of our online form (available in PDF) and mail or fax the completed form to eGive at 636-527-6625 or 1365 Clarkson Pines Lane, Ellisville, MO 63011.

These signup forms may be customized for distribution to your congregation. The giving button may be sent in Emails and placed on your web site. This button will direct the person to a secure online giving form with your Church's name, address, phone number and 75 x 75 pixel logo (logo is optional). This information and a link to your web site (site link optional) will be placed on the eGive partners page at https://www.egive-usa.com/partners. Feel free to click on the below button to see how this works.

An eGive donation can be divided out into six different categories but one electronic payment (ACH debit) will be posted to the donor's account and an Email informing the giver that their tithe/offering has been posted is sent. One electronic deposit (ACH credit) will be posted to the Church's account weekly on Monday and a password-protected spreadsheet is Emailed to the Church with a detail of eGiving. This spreadsheet can be quickly posted to the Church's giving records. If your Church software will allow an imported file and there are a large number of transactions, eGive will work with the Church to create a custom file for import into your software, eliminating the need for manually posting the giving records. If your Church software is web based, eGive will upload the file for you.

How your church benefits

eGive pays for itself by increasing giving. Typically contributions that are missed are not made up. This happens most often during the summer months when many people take vacations, during the winter when people travel to warmer climates and during inclement weather when Church services are cancelled or attendance is drastically reduced. There is no setup fee for Churches.

For example:

Twenty people sign up for eGive and they each give an average of $50 per week.
They miss seven services per year.
Forty percent of those contributions missed are not made up.
The Church misses 20 x 50 x 7 x .40 or $2,800 per year

The cost for eGive is 15 cents per item for all churches plus $25 per month for churches that have 500 or less members or $49 per month for churches with more than 500 members. If an eGiver has their contribution broken out six ways it only counts as one item because only one electronic payment (ACH debit) is sent to their account by eGive.

In the above example the cost would be calculated as follows:

$49 per month x 12 = $588 in monthly fees

If eGivers donate an average of 3 times per month (a little over half will typically donate weekly, a few bi-monthly and the rest monthly) 20 people x an average of 36 payments or 720 items at 15 cents each totaling $108 for the year.

The total cost for the year in the above example is $696 for an increase in giving of over $2,800. Ten people signing up for eGive should increase giving $1,400.

Some churches experience a higher percentage of donations that are not made up. You may have to adjust the average giving per week but eGivers are typically above average because of their willingness to commit to a consistent amount. This analysis does not include the expense of giving envelopes; deposited check bank fees and time spent preparing deposits and posting giving records. eGivers will be encouraged to have their weekly contribution deducted on Friday so that it will be in the Church's account as available funds at 8:00 am Monday morning.

The eGive program will speed up cash flow because typically Sunday offerings are not available until the checks deposited clear. This could cause the funds not to be available for one to five days. With eGive the Church will receive immediately available credit so it can benefit from an earnings allowance on balances immediately. Cash flow for eGiving will be steady year round and the Church's burden is reduced because checks are not handled and deposited, accounts can be posted from a spreadsheet and eGive is responsible for the complete process from beginning to end.
