Accessibility

eGive is about making stewardship easy and part of this process is bringing these services to all people who visit this web site. As such, eGive-USA.com strives to meet several accessibility standards and to provide tools that allow all people to access this web site. Below is an outline of the steps we have taken:

Access Keys

Access Keys are keyboard shortcuts for a web site — they allow users to press a couple of keys to use important links on a page. Most modern browsers use the following key combination to use access keys:

On Windows: Press ALT and the access key at the same time.

On Macintosh: Press Control and the access key at the same time.

You can see what the access key is for a link by hovering over the link with your mouse. If a link has an accesskey, the tool tip will contain the following note: "(accesskey 0)". "0" is the accesskey for that link.

Here is a list of standard accesskeys for this site:

Text Size and Presentation

We have tried to increase the readability of this website by making it possible for people to resize the text on these pages. Most modern browsers allow you to resize text using a menu item or through keyboard shortcuts. Below is a list of some web browsers and how to change the text size:

Browser Option Location
Microsoft IE on Windows: In the "View" menu, look in the "Text Size" menu.
Microsoft IE on Macintosh: In the "View" menu, look in the "Text Zoom" menu.
Netscape and Mozilla: In the "View" menu, look in the "Text Zoom" menu.
Safari on Macintosh: In the "View" menu, there are two items: "Make text bigger" and "Make text smaller".

Also browsers like Netscape and Mozilla allow you to switch to a larger text size under the "Use style" menu in "View".

Navigation Aids

While eGive-USA.com was designed with modern browsers in mind, we added navigational aids for other browsers including text-only browsers and mobil devices. The pages have navigation links intended for text-only browsers or browsers that do not support the technical involved with a page. We have taken efforts to be sure that anyone can use the features of this site, regardless of what technologies they do and do not support.

Standards Compliance

This site was designed to meet the following Internet standards:

  • All pages in this site validate as XHTML and all pages use standard-compliant CSS.
  • The pages of this site strive to meet the Internet accessibility standards outlined in the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and the United States Federal Government Section 508 Guidelines.
  • The code of this web site was designed in a way that should allow most browsers and Internet-ready devices. Even with scripting languages (JavaScript), stylesheets (CSS), and images turned off, the content and functionality of this site should still be accessible.
